A new Macro lens!

I just ordered my own Christmas present! The "Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro for Canon AF". I have wanted this lens for quite sometime but was going to wait until spring to order it. But, then I thought "why not order it now and really run up the old credit cards" ... haha After all, it is Christmas time :O) I ordered the "Sigma Electronic Flash EF 500 DG Super for Canon AF" and a cable shutter release a couple of weeks ago. I haven't messed with the flash much yet but I'm sure it has to be much better than the "on-board" flash on the Rebel. I have read good reports about this Sigma flash in all the photography forums. I should receive the new Macro lens on Dec 21st. I just love it when that "brown" truck pulls up in front of my house!

OMG!!!!!!!

I'm probably going to shoot myself tomorrow for doing it .......... BUT ......... I ordered the "BIGMA"!! Sigma 50-500mm f/4-6.3 EX APO DG HSM for Canon AF. I even ordered it "2nd day air"! I think I have totally lost my mind now that I am so old! LOL I turned 57 last Saturday so this is my belated birthday present to myself. I can hardly wait to get that hot little baby in my hands.

Picnic at New Harmony State Park

It was a beautiful day for the annual "old ladies weenie roast". LOL Even the old dirty river looked pretty yesterday.




Jan and Veronica had a great time roasting weenies and acting like a couple of teenagers! I have never heard such "cackling". They have no idea of how many birds they scared away! (Trish, sorry that you couldn't go with us)



I attempted to shoot some birds but due to the excessive "cackling", I was unsuccessful! haaaaaa



The trees in the park were just gorgeous. I will post some shots of New Harmony later. That is one beautiful place during autumn. Veronica is lucky enough to be living there so she can see the beauty of this quaint little historical town every day!

The morning glories are all wrapped around the corn. They look so pretty early in the mornings.

Have been trying to take photos of this for three weeks now but always think about it too late and the flowers have already closed!! They sure don't stay open very long.

Nice Sunset

The killer heat wave is finally gone. I got up early and turned off the a/c. A nice cool breeze from the north felt wonderful. Of course it was cloudy and ugly most of the day but I can live with it ... sure beats the hell outta 120 heat index!!

Cute Hummer

Lots of little hummers around today. This male ruby spent the whole day chasing off every hummer that tried to get on his feeder!

What?? Heat Index is now 120

Isn't she a little cutie with her tongue sticking out!!! The hummers are truly my favorite little birds. I could sit and watch them all day.

Dragonfly

I lied ... I did stand out in the sweltering heat on Thursday. Lots of dragon photos! Not the smartest thing I have ever done. Killer heat......... I will never do it again.
